Democracy Can't Wait - Photoshoot for Democracy
Time & Location
About the event
Congress is edging ever closer to a vote on the For the People Act. This critical legislation will help secure voting rights across the country. What could be more democratic than making sure it’s safe and easy to vote? Unfortunately, the freedom to vote is under attack by extremist state lawmakers across the country who want to put up deliberate barriers to make it harder to vote -- especially for people of color. The Senate must act swiftly to pass national standards for federal elections to ensure that we can safely and freely cast our ballots.
Here’s how you can help:
Write a letter to the editor of your local paper in support of the For the People Act. Check out this fact sheet on the For the People Act for some talking points.
Swing by the Democracy Can’t Wait banner on NW Portland Ave between 4th and 5th, take a picture with the sign, and post it to your social media using the hashtags #DemocracyCantWait and #RecessCanWait.
We’ll be at 4th and Portland on August 9th from 6:00-7:00 pm for a Democracy photoshoot. Join us and be included in our video montage of democracy loving Bendites!
Call Senator Ron Wyden and Senator Jeff Merkley and encourage them to continue their support of the For the People Act. They’ve been great champions, and we need to give them all the positive love and support we can.
Join the COIN Virtual Rally on August 10th at 7:00 pm. We swap stories, share videos and watch events that are going on live across the state. You can register for the Virtual Rally here or on Facebook.
